The volume contains the revised papers delivered at the international symposium I Barberini e l’Europa, held in December 2021 at the Istituto Nazionale di Studi Romani (INSR) and online, with the collaboration of the Fraknói Research Group. The more than three-hundred-page publication by Edizioni Sette Città presents studies by twelve authors. Contributions by Silvano Giordano, Olivier Poncet, Matteo Binasco, Giovanni Pizzorusso, Matteo Sanfilippo, Giuseppe Mrozek Eliszezynki, Isabella Iannuzzi, Gaetano Sabatini, as well as by the editors (Gaetano Platania, Péter Tusor, Alessandro Boccolini), address the Western (French, Spanish, English, etc.) and Eastern (primarily Polish and Hungarian) foreign policy and ecclesiastical relations of this multi-generational papal dynasty through its cardinals and princes, including also its connections with early modern North America and its role in the organization of global missions. Dimensions of economic and literary history likewise come to the fore (Francesca di Caprio, Dalma Frascarelli).
